Once again, our own Boben Weev and Miss Weev are two of the major organizers of the event. You do not need to “qualify” to shoot at the Illinois State Match. You DO need to be a paid-up member of SASS [Single Action Shooting Society].

Enjoy three great days of shooting, hosted by the Kaskaskia Cowboys and the World Shooting Complex, or just come for the Main Match on Saturday and Sunday.

The main match is limited to 300 entries.

Accommodations

Hotel & motels fill up, so make your Sparta hotel reservations early.
Camping is available at the shooting complex.

Join the Lake Fork Cowboys for a 5^th Saturday shoot in October on Halloween Weekend at the Lake Fork Sportsman Club outdoor range near Atwood, Illinois.
(75 miles from Springfield, 75 miles from Bloomington, 65 miles from
Effingham, 40 miles from Champaign, and 30 miles from Decatur)

Registration 8:30 – 9:30 a.m.
Safety Meeting – 9:30 a.m.
Cost of Match – $10 [includes water and possibly snacks or other food offering]
Scores will be E-mailed to participants.

We usually finish around 12:30 or 1 p.m.
Parking is very close by and on nicely-drained gravel.

This is a small fun shoot that happens once a year, hosted by the Lake Fork Cowboys [not an official SASS™ club].
It’s a great venue for newer shooters and gives experienced shooters the chance to shoot different types of targets, including some flying clays. It’s also a great chance to introduce non-Cowboy shooters to Cowboy Action Shooting [CAS].
Cowboy shooters, we ask that you please wear your cowboy/cowgirl garb.
Spectators and guests are welcome. Ear protection & eye protection are required.
The range has a porta-potty but no running water. There is fuel, a convenience store, and restaurants in the town of Atwood.

It’s bound to be a fun and entertaining match with lots of “toys” according to Ross Haney, one of the founders. They’ll shoot 5 stages.

We had 18 shooters for our 5th Saturday Cowboy Action Shoot at the Lake Fork Sportsman Club in Atwood, Illinois [between Champaign & Decatur] including 4 new shooters.

overcast sky with no rain.

Congratulations to Vaquero Pete, our only Clean Shooter for the match.
Special thanks goes to Uncle Jack for providing the poles for our target stands, a tent for shade, and a cleverly-engineered system for launching clay birds.

Thanks to everyone who helped set up on Friday evening and Saturday morning and who stayed to put away the equipment after the match.

10:30 a.m. at the Milan Rifle Club
Milan, Illinois [south of Moline]

From the organizers:
“We’ve done this now for the past 3 or 4 years and have gotten some great shooters from it so we’re doing it again this year. Start time is approximately 10:30 am on the ranges where we shoot our matches.”

This is for new cowboy shooters (not people who have never shot a gun before) who might be a little leary of coming out to a shoot – this allows them to get their ‘feet wet’ so to speak and learn the rules of the game and shoot a stage or two. There is no charge for this clinic and we will supply guns and ammo if they don’t already have their own. Please let anyone you know who might be interested know about this clinic – it’s a great opportunity!!”
