Monday – June 27, 2011 – Our would-be cowboy match turned into a meet & greet cowboy session held beside “the rivers gently flowing” at the newly-flooded range.
As you may have surmised, our “firm range ground” from Saturday turned to roiling rapids by Sunday morning as the Loami area picked up 2″ of additional rain after the targets were set up on Saturday, bringing the 30-day total to nearly 15″ according to state hydrology maps.
Lemon Drop Kid discovered the watery world on Sunday when he arrived at the range about 7:45 a.m. Although too late to stop many of us who were already most of the way to Springfield by that time of the morning, the organizers did their best to notify people whose cell numbers they had on hand.
Nonetheless, 16 of us braved the potholes on the detour along with a little water on the road to check out the range, staying to visit with our shooting buddies.
